DIY boost #guitarpedal now on the pedalboard!

Delivers a handy signal boost starting from unit gain.

I switched pots, from log to linear, making the gain change more progressive.

There’s a slight tone change at unit gain, but it might actually be the pedal acting as a buffer, as there are 6m of audio cable between the guitar and the amp.

Would be interesting to make some measurements. I wonder about the max gain, gain at noon (3dB?), and how the spectrum is actually affected (transparency).

Just finished my first DIY #guitarpedal.

It’s supposed to be a clone of the Zvex Super HardOn boost pedal.

I misplanned and soldered everything before mounting… so I had to resolder the DC jack and LED in place.

I also used the wrong type of potentiometer so the gain is mainly flat for most of the track, then skyrockets at the end.

I also didn’t use a kit so I had to resort to masking tape to isolate parts that would otherwise short circuit (eg PCB pins on back plate).

It works, so.

Replaced the fake J201s with (hopefully) real ones. After testing, discovered a short to ground. No solder bridges, no faulty components, so must be either a faulty PCB or (more likely) I damaged it replacing the J201s. I have attempted to fix it by bypassing the faulty PCB track. Things are getting ugly. Next is to test it.

I'm so frustrated with this build and almost ready to give up. Every problem I fix, I just create an new problem.🙁
