@mirkoh well ! I'm glad you asked... I tried to add #guixsd on top of a fresh #debian install.
Then imported my #guixhome file,... I dunno how or why... it happened, but it did happened. I broke my #debix :DD experimental system.

What about your experience ?May i wish you all the best with ?

@msw @fedora For those who have at least once worked voluntarily to a free system #Distribution / #Distro that either follows the #GNU FSDG (like those that provide some part of #GNU, such as #Dragora, #Dyne:bolic, #GuixSystem / #GuixSD, #Hyperbola, #Parabola, #PureOS, #Trisquel, #UtutoS, #LibreCMC, #ProteanOS, or those which don't, such as #Replicant) or to a #Distro that is almost there (I'm waiting your reply, #Debian) per-language managers complicated things.

Today’s #Guix fun looks like it’s going to be figuring out how to download binary packages from a non-official source, as the laptop I’m testing #GuixSD on is a bit too underpowered to build #Firefox from source, which is(?) the only option it currently tells me it has. IOW I’ve taught it about the nonguix channel but not the related substitutes server.
All because … Firefox /appears/ not to be open-source enough for inclusion in Guix’s standard package repo? Oh well.

Using #guix desktop (#guixSD) for the last two months now as my #framework laptop daily driver. It's been working super well overall, but I have three things on my wishlist:

1) not having to enter my password twice on startup to decrypt my drive
2) kde support
3) better battery life (this is a framework / linux issue)

Day 2 with GuixSD, and I’ve finally reached a point where I have an installed machine, with (~)FDE, which can connect to the internet via wifi after its post-install reboot. This required the use of an unofficial installer (https://systemcrafters.net/craft-your-system-with-guix/full-system-install/) due to the non-free nature of my wifi hardware, & that post’s mid- & post-installer shenanigans to persist various settings. All in all: a good outcome, via an imperfect process. #Guix #GuixSD #Linux

@ghuntley I don't write #haskell but I'm interested in it.

I daily drive #nixos on my work laptop though and I really like it. Nixifying everything has been a fun experience so far.

I am also interested in #guixsd since I like #lisp but it doesn't meet my requirements yet unfortunately.

@Fritange I tried to figure out more about Guix, because I've never heard it before.

Is there a huge difference between #guixsd and #nixos ?

#GuixSD background image I made just for the fun of it. Don't even run that OS since it isn't as GUI friendly as its name suggests.

Whenever I try to reconfigure GuixSD, even with the exact same settings, it fails to boot properly.

I just kind of accepted the reality that I'll be testing the beta release of GuixSD forever.

Answer to myself : I am gonna build a #guixSD droplet on #digitalOcean. Then I will make a #guix package of my #guile application which will be deployed on my droplet to serve my #web-app.

Premières impressions sur l'installation de #guixSD sur un droplet #digitalOcean : un peu de bidouille parce qu'on est loin d'une distro mainstream mais pas si compliqué si on a déjà fait des install de distribution #GNU/Linux et ensuite les premiers paramétrages du système se font sans douleur grâce au fichier de configuration central (et son langage #guile).
Beau travail des #guileHacker !
