Und wer hat sich gestern ein #gulikit fuer das #Steamdeck gekauft? Ja, ich. Ich leide gern muesst ihr wissen. Ist ja nicht so, als haette ich bereits die SSD (64 -> 512) und die Waermeleitpaste ausgetauscht und die APU undervolted, mit Hilfe eines BIOS mods.

Warum mach ich das eigentlich? Keine Ahnung. Es macht einfach Spass :D

I bought myself some Hall Effect joysticks from #Gulikit for my #NintendoSwitch joycons to solve stick drift one & for all.

If you're wondering why these will solve it; normal joysticks use potentiometers; a metal contact scrapes across a plate, changing resistance measurements. That scraping wears away the contact points.

Hall Effect joysticks use magnets. There's no contact points to wear away.

Replacing the sticks was a little fiddly, but not difficult. No soldering, just ribbon cables.

The GuliKit sticks came in. Time to do some surgery on my Joy-Con. #NintendoSwitch #GuliKit #HallSensors

The GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro came in this afternoon. Love the feel of this thing. Can't wait to try it with the Steam Deck in docked mode tonight.

#GuliKit transplant in progress for my #SteamDeck. Because I don’t trust myself with (de)soldering, I actually bought joystick replacements from #iFixit and I’m taking the capacitive caps out of those and putting them on the new ones. If I screw something up, at least I’d have the completely untouched original joysticks to put back in.
