There are 115,576 K-12 schools in the US. Let's say that the GOP wants us to have an average ratio of 4 officers for every school - 462304 officers. For perspective - the entire US had a TOTAL of 660288 officers in 2021 (source: bit.ly/40HBmaf). Can we see how ridiculous the idea of just adding officers to schools is? #GunsAreTheProblem

It appears the shooter was a trans man. The Nashville police chief stopped short of stating definitely.

My fear: the right-wing fundamentalist GOP will use this as a reason to further demonize and dehumanize trans people.

Sandy Hook is what broke me. When I realized that even the deaths of 20 children (plus 6 teachers) was not enough to change our gun culture, that's when I realized that there is never going to be enough for some people to accept that guns are the problem. It is truly baffling to me that we, as a society, have not reached that moment when true change can happen. It is nothing short of a travesty and a complete embarrassment.
