Antonio Guzmán Blanco, nace en Caracas el 20 de febrero de 1829, y fallece en París, Francia el 28 de julio de 1899, fue estadista, jefe militar de la Guerra Federal, caudillo del Partido Liberal Amarillo y presidente de la República en varias ocasiones entre 1870 y 1888.

Hijo de Antonio Leocadio Guzmán, fundador del Partido Liberal, y de Carlota Blanco Jerez de Aristiguieta, pariente cercano de la familia Bolívar.
