Maybe I misunderstand you.
If I get it right you ask if KDE should provide this service. That's why I said it is maybe worth to give this task to a KDE friendly partner.

Apart from that I would trust KDE a lot.
To be honest I would trust a KDE ecosystem alot. Imagine a cloud by KDE with office, mail, … all well combined with #plasma, #Kmail, #gwenview, #dolphin … 🤗

Vielleicht kann mir ja jemand helfen: Ich nutze #gwenview unter KDE als Bildbetrachter. Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, die im #EXIF-Tag hinterlegten #GPS-Koordinaten direkt in OpenStreetmap oder Google Maps im Browser zu öffnen? Vielleicht irgendeine Tastenkombination?

Weiß hier irgendwer, warum #gwenview unter #Arch #Linux .cr2 Dateien nicht mehr anzeigt? Seltsamerweise nur auf dem PC, auf dem Laptop funktioniert das. Ich kann nur nicht nachvollziehen seit wann, scheint aber bei irgendeinem Systemupdate passiert zu sein.

Mit welcher SW schaut man denn unter #Linux viele tausend Bilder in einem Ordner schnell an? Also ich meine einen #ImageViewer, der schnell Thumbnails generiert, sodass man schnell durch sie durchscrollen kann. Die Größe der #Thumbnails sollte anpassbar sein, sodass nur 4 oder 5 pro Reihe zu sehen sind.

#Gwenview ist dafür ganz nett, läuft aber in den neueren Versionen langsamer und stürzt öfter ab.

Saving images from Discord:

a brief examination of good and bad UX

ideal: allow saving the image directly from Discord. (Can only do this with the web app; desktop app can only open image in another program, whence you can theoretically save it. It is Discord's fault that this option does not exist.)

acceptable: open the image in another app, such as a file viewer or web browser, that will let you save it. (MATE Desktop opens them in your default browser, and I've never yet encountered a situation where a browser wouldn't let me "save as" for an image file.)

bad: open the image in another app, but disable the app's "Save as..." menu option for no readily apparent reason. (KDE does it this way.)

At least I still have the option to "copy link" from Discord and then paste it into a browser's URL control -- but... 🤦‍♀️

You know what is really odd, it was only the other day that I realised #Gwenview was a #KDE app. Up until it got updated, I thought the 'G' was a dead giveaway for a #GNOME app, but it turns out not (:*
