I like the gyro in 3D puzzle based games or 3D exploration games, I think. I still need to get used to the controls, and I wonder what the best action is to turn around if I don't want to do a 180 in my lazy chair. š
I've played a session of Portal 2 and a bit of Aer. Portal 2 was fun, looking absolutely everywhere with the gyro, though sometimes it's at awkward angles. Gotta figure out what the best strategy is to look around smoothly. I also think I have to rebind a few keys there as having to let go of the gyro to grab or push something is a bit annoying.

Developers work very hard to balance crossplay and that balancing controller vs. mouse and keyboard is very difficult. Mouse and keyboard users typically have an advantage over controller users in terms of speed and accuracy. Controller users typically rely on aim assist to compensate for their disadvantage. However, aim assist can also create some issues such as unfairness or frustration.
Gyro aiming can help bridge the gap between controller and mouse and keyboard users by providing more precision without relying on aim assist. However, if developers donāt have native gyro aiming support in their games, they lose control over how gyro is balanced in their games. Players who use software or hardware solutions to enable gyro aiming may gain an unfair advantage over other players who donāt use them. This can undermine the game balance.
Therefore, I urge developers to consider adding native gyro aiming support to their games and platforms (erm, yes Microsoft!). It can improve the gameplay experience for both players and developers by providing more precision, comfort and balance. Do you use Steam Input to customize controls and enable gyro input for your PC games that don't support it natively? If so, you might be interested to know that similar functionality can be achieved on gaming consoles (Xbox specifically), even if they lack native gyro support.
Two pieces of hardware that do this are the Armor X Pro which maps the gyro to stick, and the XIM NExus which maps the gyro to mouse.
These are not cheap, however, the benefits are huge!
PS: I'm well aware that the brand XIM specifically is sadly associated with cheating and some of the more advanced macro functions of controllers like these can be used to cheat. However, my main interest in them is to use the gyro aspect. Simply do what Steam Input can do, just remapping.
Do you know what #gaming really needs? #Valve to make #controllers again, there's a whole bunch of gamers now enjoying the #SteamDeck's wonderful controls and utilising #steaminput to great effect and we don't have an official Valve controller to enjoy Steam Input on a PC to the fullest.
These don't need to be like the old Steam Controller, they should be more like the Steam Deck.

The #Steamļæ¼Deck isnāt perfect for #HaloInfinite against real people. But it is great for practising against bots, specially using #gyroaiming using #SteamInput. Mapped to mouse is better than right stick. This game badly needs native gyro support and weaker aim assist.
