Because I'm delusional, I believed this would largely be a matter of cleaning up a few links and reorganizing a few pages. Clearly I was in deep denial about just how out of control the site had gotten over the years - which was ALL on ME.

BUT it's getting there. I'd say at this rate that by the dawn of the next millennium, I should have 90% of things where they should be and more or less functional. IN THE MEANTIME, I'd love it if you'd pay a visit and poke around.

Just... pretend there are orange cones and construction signs up everywhere. But it's getting there.

As many of you probably know, #BookReviews are EVERYTHING when it comes to Amazon search results and sales.

When I self-published my first book, I was still connected to hundreds of friends and acquaintances on Facebook and Twitter, and managed to secure a dozen or so posted reviews within a few months of the release. Now that I’ve limited myself to a single forum - #Mastodon - my reach is obviously far more limited. (The overall quality is obviously a HUGE improvement, but following more interesting people doesn’t necessarily translate into book sales!)

I’ve made a conscious decision to dial back the self-promotion in this forum, based largely on my general impression about what’s considered “tasteful” and my aversion to being filed under “annoying #newbie.” Nevertheless, I’d like to reach out to anyone who’s interested and send you a free copy of either of my most recent efforts - “Have To” History: The Boring Parts or Teach Like You: A Disgruntled Educator’s Guide for New Teachers, Old Teachers, or Confused Outsiders.

There are only two catches. One is that I’m asking anyone interested to commit to read at least part of the book and write a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or both within the next few months. The second is that you have to have been active on Amazon during the past year or have an account on Goodreads. The latter is pretty easy, I believe, but I’ve had several positive reviews squashed because the people writing them didn’t actually use Amazon and were thus disqualified from sharing them there.
