Habitat II was unique in that it was also released for the Sega Saturn later on.
Avatars connected to the same world server as Windows and Mac users.
Sega Saturn users often experiened a much slower time when logged in compared to their PC counterparts. The artwork was also reduced in scale so the fidelity wasn't quite as good.

WorldsAway was much higher fidelity than either of its predecessors and it was the first of them to be more of a live service similar to what we have today.
New artwork and code updates were being sent down the pipe often and new areas were always being introduced too.
At the same time WorldsAway was being built, Fujitsu Japan were localising it for the Japanese market and in March 1996, Habitat II was released.

If anyones interested in the history of virtual worlds, I run a website documenting and archiving stuff about a particular subset of them.
If anyone's familiar with Lucasfilm's Habitat, it's a site about that service and its successor services created by some of the same people from 1985 up till the 2000's.
I'll write a little toot about each service below.
