Been getting a lot of "rate limited, please retry after <time a few minutes in the future>" from #Hachyderm . In actual fact, my scrolling and stuff is not obviously affected; posts seem to appear in my timeline appropriately without any delay. What's happening?

So far, the birthing pangs of whatever this is have been messy in terms of their effect on people. #oliphant #hachyderm #tusky and I am sure many others have found that #moderation and #governance are sticky, thorny functions where people are often made very unhappy, by decisions or by experiences or by the cost of these on relationships and communities.

I urge #mercy, #compassion and #grace 1st, maybe #forgiveness where possible. But #transparency, #rules & #roles, too

Is #Hachyderm having trouble with mstdn.social? Because I'm getting 404 errors when I try to follow certain profiles that I don't get on a different account on a different server.

Ok the instance migration was definitely smoother this time. Lost a few followers. Would still be nice it was designed to carry over content. Oh well.

maybe I haven't been watching my #hachyderm feed closely enough but I was shocked to learn just now from @LikesCalendars of @nova's passing.

I knew her only through brief interactions on here and the github repo but I'll be forever #grateful to her for launching hachyderm which has become my community of choice on the web.

Sad news today.

#OpenSource / #FreeSoftware #activist, #writer, #programmer, and #streamer, #KrisNova, founder of #Hachyderm and #Nivenly, died in a rock climbing accident last Wednesday evening.

@nova's presence in the OpenSource community will be missed.

Many of us who joined here did so thanks to @nova. We knew that whatever she was up to was gonna be great, like so many other projects where she was involved. That so many of us felt — and still feel — that we’ve found a new home in #Hachyderm, is in no small part thanks to her. While few of us can hope to achieve that level of greatness, I think we all can learn a lot from her about how to change things for the better.

Thanks Krís, and rest in peace.

Wow. So sad to hear about the loss of @nova 😢 I did not know her personally, but she is what brought me over to #Hachyderm. She strived to create an awesome and welcoming tech community that remains thriving to this day. I admired her resolve as a leader, she handled it with poise even though it was tough and unexpected.

I became a fan watching her work and admired what she had accomplished.

May she forever be remembered as the incredible person she was.
