If you want to understand whats happening in #Israel, the new government was early on accused of turning the country into a halachic state.

I don't want to claim to be an expert. Apparently the #halakha is something like a religious set of #laws.

The way I have always had it explained to me by #Reform rabbis was that it is based on the notion not that #Halakha is not binding, but that it didn't end when the #Talmud was written.

Reasons not to convert:

1. As an adult convert, I would feel compelled to be fairly scrupulous about #halakha, and I'm worried I might not have it in me. I'm not planning to break it, I'm just worried I might come to resent being subject to others' ethical dicta again, even though I agreed to them.

There are a range of Jewish views on suicide, assisted suicide, and euthanasia. There is a surprising amount of agreement on the issue from across the denominational range - Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform -
