Today's #APOD is a #picture of the #Sun in #Halpha. One can see many features on the surface which is due to the #stellar magnetism. These features are also affecting other stars around which we are hunting for #exoplanets. Since the stellar disk is not uniform, these feature are perturbing the data, and sometimes mimicking exoplanets.

If you like #galaxies and #jets, you will like this #picture, for sure ! This #photography shows the spiral #galaxy NGC 1097 together with 4 optical jets (one is very faint) forming an "X". The red zones are #star forming regions as traced by their #Halpha emissions.
(this is the real picture of NGC 1097 that should have been posted on @APoD today).
