#Hamlib 's documentation links to this warning about using the S-Meter for measurement, but I am not too concerned, as my goal is to get a relative measurement over time with the same radio.

The sweeps I do now are manually launched, but I want to add a cron job to my shack computer to run this on a regular basis to see how it varies over the day.

I whipped up a #AmateurRadio #Hamlib program, a tool to take sweeps across the bands to measure background noise levels.
https://github.com/indiahotelxray/RadioBackgroundNoiseProfiler
It ought to work with any radio that Hamlib supports taking a S-Level from.
(Forgive me, not an EE for probably missing some important things -- this is a coarse measurement tool. I want to get a sense of the background levels of noise as I try to make improvements to my station.)
#GettingCloser on the #SatNOGS RF ground station for #satellites .
The Green Heron RT-21 Az/El rotator controller is different from many other rotators in that it has a separate USB port for Az and El. In other words, you plug in to the rotator with two USB cables for the Raspbery Pi.
Bits of it are in #hamlib , but I think it is only for other models.

Linux in the Ham Shack | #206.
In this episode: an in-depth look at the wonder of hamlib, the software that binds applications to amateur radio hardware.
It's cross platform, small and actively developed.
