My antenna gets to see fantastic views, but not enough QSO s. The #rbn #reversebeaconnetwork shows that my QRP signal is perfectly copied all over Europe, but there are no takers. I even heard a Japanese station on 17m, and LU on 10m. So I conclude that the antenna works fine, the bands are open, there is just no activity. Except Ft8. Le sigh.

During Field Day 2021 I used hz.tools/{sdr,fm} and some glue code to try and participate by transmitting using a HackRF (with a bandpass and amp to bring me up to 0.1Watt, and an antenna up outside) attached to a Raspberry Pi to transmit over the network, and listen on an RTL (also using #hztools)

I made a confirmed #hamrado QSO with a member of my club a bit over 6 miles away, simplex, and have checked into a weekly net doing the same.

One of my requirements for a #HamRado digital voice hotspot is Ethernet. I do not wish to introduce any more latency into the signal path than is already there.

Simple truck based #pota activation at two parks. Mill Pond VE-5955 was a 2fer with VE-0023 and Portland Conservation area VE-5957 was a 3fer with VE-4882 and VE-0023. I’m usually a low powered operator with my KX2 and wire in the air but sometimes it’s fun to use the FT-991A and ATAS 120a. The more I use the 991A, the more I like it. Activated VE-5940 (ATNO) a couple of days ago using the KX2 and AX1 on a tiny tripod. Even worked Italy on 20 with SSB. Cycled over to the park and enjoyed the atmosphere. When band conditions are good, even tiny antennas and low power works #pota #hamrado #qrp
