Trying to expand the #hamr #hamshtaguniverse Dunno how these play in other languages.

@va3db @wd9ewk @DO2SGF It was only a glimmer, though. Eventually the non-#CHOWG was beaten down. I ended my rotating editorship of ANS & didn't renew my AMSAT-NA membership. I always use the NA to differentiate that bunch from the other AMSATs.

I've also not made a #hamsat QSO since, either, which is not a good thing. I just don't want to be reminded of their existence by hearing certain callsigns. Once we get settled north of the Medicine Line (later this year), that will change.

I'm about to spam the #HamRadio and #AmateurRadio tags with a few mostly unrelated questions which I've written down over the last few months since getting my license, and which I haven't been able to find complete or understandable (by me) answers to.

Number One:

Will contacting the #ISS and #hamsat -ellites be easier with a portable setup, a decently-powerful radio, and a yagi I can point, or by an over-powered base station setup? You decide what "easy" means here.

Getting the FT-1836 (2x FT-818) ready for some #hamsat #pota field activations. MacDoppler driving the radio VFOs and the 3D printed #satNOGS rotator no problem. Depending on location I’ll change between hand holding the arrow antenna and clamping it in the rotator.
Just have to 3D print some side panels and do some cable management before taking this all out to the field…

@ai6yr Wow! I thought it had de-orbited - guess not! Like AO-7, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking ...

@Ea5iyl I have made QSOs from the car using a dual-band 1/4 wave (SSB-1NMO) & ~30W up. Keep trying & remember that more of your signal will be towards the horizon not straight up. #hamr #hamsat #diy
