A friend is making plans to move long-term to China so I'm trying to make a scarf in time. Started with Tunisian crochet then I swapped to my knitting needles, so that most of it will be in herringbone stitch. All yarn are my own handspun 🤗

It's national craft week season (ironically it runs for two weeks) - time for me to restock my fabrics and also get new woven mats for house. Probably some bead jewellery too, and maybe some new notebooks (there's a couple of small studios that use discarded pineapple fibres)

Something rather wonderful for writers who need to source early 19th Century info, artists and handicrafters who want to replicate old techniques, or people who just love trawling through antique and vintage trivia (me!):

A SELECT COLLECTION OF VALUABLE AND CURIOUS ARTS AND INTERESTING EXPERIMENTS

All sorts of just fascinating stuff in this 1826 edition, mostly practical ("To dye silk a brilliant gold colour"; "To make elastic varnish for umbrellas"), but also including whimsical items such as "Sympathetic inks for secret correspondence" and fun parlor tricks ("To light a candle by application of ice").

The appendix alone is a treasure trove, with a list of items / ingredients used in the book, including explanations of those items, and their prices.
