Finished plying the first half of this chocolate brown fiber this morning...what a color in the sun!! #handspinning
I'm sending some handspun yarn to a friend in Poland and wanted to show this off before I pack it up! This was one of the first skeins of yarn I made, probably 6 years ago or so. I really love the colors. #handspinning
This is what I did on the first day of our vacation.
It’s part of the Jacob fleece I’ve been working on. Carded rolags, and long draw woolen spun singles.

Yeah I am absolutely in love with this color. Maybe my favorite of the Navajo-Churro wool I've spun so far! #handspinning
What crafts have you done this weekend – or bank holiday for all my UK pals? I got a drop spindle!

Cast this off today and sewed in the loose ends. Tomorrow I'll wash and dry it, and post another pic. The off white yarn is handspun and still has a lot of lanolin in it, so it's a bit stiff. Looking forward to seeing it after I give it a good soak.
Its the Tidvatten Tide on Ravelry, and uses short rows to create the curve. Brilliant, simple design.

Sitting munching on some dark chocolate while I should be vacuuming, when I get notified that some wool roving I have ordered is on its way!

As a fun comparison, here are the three colors of yarn I've finished so far! The lightest shades are pretty similar but you can see the difference if you look carefully. #handspinning
My first #spinning project is COMPLETE! 🎉
2kg of undyed multicoloured Corriedale from Ashford. Nearly 3000 yards of yarn.
Because it's my first project, the yarn gauge changes dramatically from first skein to last. (first kg: ~800yd; second kg: ~1800yd)
This will complicate the plan to use it for a sweater, but I'm an accomplished enough
#knitter to be able to make it work well.

3/3 It has taken me five days, a plying ball, an oversized cup, a mini niddy-noddy, a bottle of sunscreen (don’t look at me like that, it was right at hand & the correct size), and every bit of patience I posses, but I am FINALLY plying this yarn.
Oh, that’s a Miss Marple’s Teacup spindle from Greensleeves spindles. It spins fooorreeever and I love it. #HandSpinning #spindle #SpinningWool

Early this week, I finally finished spinning the singles. In a moment of extreme hubris and late-night brain, I decided it would be smart to use a LOOSE bracelet of yarn around my wrist to wind the plying ball. Loose. With laceweight singles. (2/3)
Hand spun alpaca singles. The dark gray was done on my #spinningWheel and the brown was on my #dropSpindle

and here's the finished skein I ended up chain-plying that Norman insisted on modeling 😆 #yarn #handspun #handspinning #BlepsOfMastodon #CatsOfMastodon

Gifts from recent trip. Book on natural dyes, courtesy of the author. Two new spindles. Large one is from the highlands of Peru, unsure where. Smaller has a ceramic whorl and is said to be Shipibo.

I still need to ply, skein, wash, dry and measure the last four bobbins of singles, but I've just now finally finished #handSpinning the 2kg of corriedale sliver that I bought back in January! 🧶
Now to finish the shawl I currently have on the needles so I can move on to #knitting a sweater from the many, many metres of #handspun collected in a big basket.

I bought a fleece and the farm sent me a beautiful picture of the sheep - it's the one in the very center, Gottland/BFL mix.
Pictures of the fleece forthcoming!

I've moved on to another color! I can feel a few more coarse hairs in this than the cream color, I think, because the black hairs are coarser. Still feels great to work with and I will start plying tonight. #handspinning
Has anyone spun Polypay before? It's really common in my area but I'm not sure it's worth investing in...
Did you like it? Would you spin it again? Would you seek it out and buy it, or only take it if it was given to you?

Ok, managed to sort through the tidal wave of fiber and condense it from 22 bags (and one box) to ... *checks notes* 15 bags (and one box)
There's 3 fawn and white blankets, 5 medium brown, and 3 dark gray, as well as a few bags of seconds and thirds, and whatever's in the box.
Conservatively, I estimate there's about 30lbs of blankets alone (but it might be more). Big "what have I gotten myself into" mood today
