I'm starting a quick project to use up the left over cherry I bought last spring for the dining room table build. It was a good sized 8/4 board. So I spent some time today dimensioning and getting things square.

Hopefully all I need is seen here. But what will it be?!

I'm finally using the bow #lathe I made for its first project: to pegs for a hat rack. The pegs are in production order from left to right. I'm still getting the hang of it so they're p inconsistent.

I bought this blade from my favorite smithy in Kharkiv, Ukraine a couple years back. I made this handle for it out of eucalyptus. The handle was okay but did not comfortably fit my hand. I was pretty new to the craft at the time and just dealt with it as it was. I have learned a bit since then and also acquired a few rasps in the intervening years. I did some much needed reshaping and now the handle fits my hand perfectly!

My camping spoon. Made from the other half of the branch that the matcha spoon came from. I did not remove the pith but hollowed it out and filled the groove with epoxy.
"Never use the pith", they said. Well, no one tells me what to do. Not even me!

Managed to spend a couple of hours in the shop today working on a little bb bench.

But even this “small” bench is really tiring lifting and pounding and planing so now it’s time for a Sunday afternoon nap. 😴

@kedare If you are interested in woodworking in a limited space, you might look into the low workbench (low roman workbench), milkman workbench, or other table top workbenches. Those in conjunction with #HandToolWoodworking can make for a surprisingly compact work area. I have a workbench I use in the winter that is about 20"H x 12"W x 48"L that has worked well for me.

Dimensioning some boards today for a mini-bench using up some extra wood I had from my big girl bench build. It’s hard to explain how magical it feels to hand plane boards into exactly the size you need.

I didn't take before photos but trust me, this #handplane iron was all out of whack, like it had lost several fights at different angles with a belt sander. I used the hand crank grinding wheel I recently purchased secondhand to redo the bevel and it worked really well to get it roughly square again! Finished on diamond stones and the plane is planing again.
