Needless to say that the campaign of #TerryGou saw a telltale start when former KMT health minister #YaungChihLiang made some belittling remarks regarding #domesticviolence while fantasizing about beating up president #TsaiIngWen.
Absolutely no class in these remarks, this is the same brand of #toxicmasculinity that failed KMT candidate #HanKuoYu had plenty of as well. Deep blue and reactionary stuff that won't lead to any progress.

Running for presidency with old-school macho #HanKuoYu is the safest way to defeat for the KMT. Han is deep in #China's pockets and intransparent about it.
If the KMT wants to win the #election for presidency, it should go for New Taipei's mayor #HouYouyi instead - he has way more appeal to non-deepblue voters. And then there's HonHai's #TerryGou as well...

The shooter in California was a hardcore supporter of failed #KMT presidential candidate and recalled mayor of Kaohsiung, #HanKuoYu. Han had plenty of shady connections to #China, and he's part of the KMT's deep-blue faction that sees unification not only as a political goal, but as fulfilling the destiny of Chinese people.
Needless to say that this position does not win elections in #Taiwan...

In recent surveys, the percentage of people in #Taiwan supporting a "unification" with #China has dropped below 10%.
Seeing #Beijing trample on the #civicrights of the people in #HongKong certainly has been a factor in this.
Any politician entering an election with a pro-Beijing platform has no chance of winning a seat at this point. #JawShawKong is a non-seller and a repeat of the disaster that became known as Korean Fish aka #HanKuoYu. More of the same old school #KMT crap.

Seriously: If the #KMT wants to become an irrelevant fringe party and one of the little cogs in #Beijing's #UnitedFront efforts against #Taiwan, it should go into the next presidential #elections with #JawShawKong as its candidate. Less than 10% of the populace in #Taiwan identifies as Chinese rather than as Taiwanese. The fraction of #mainlanders who only came to Taiwan from 1945 to 1949 is shrinking due to age.
As election data from January 2020 show the #KMT has almost no support in the under25 age group - so this party's disconnect is only getting worse.
Running with #JawShawKong as candidate in the presidential elections in 2024 will be a failure even worse than running with #HanKuoyu.

Seen the defeat that #HanKuoyu suffered in the presidential elections in January 2020, his recall as a mayor of Kaohsiung and the mid- to long-term trends in how people in #Taiwan see themselves as Taiwanese, Chinese or both, it's baffling to see the #KMT go all-in on a guy like #JawShawKong.

This guy is representing less than 10 percent of the people with his wish to follow the fake 1992 consensus and to unite Taiwan with #China. The KMT shows that it's NOT a Taiwanese party. #FarEast

Meanwhile the invasive parasite known to people in #Taiwan as #KMT continues to show its rotten idea of #democracy:
In #Kaohsiung the recall effort by the party against independent City Councilor #HuangJie (who had been voted in on a #NPP list) - a thinly veiled act of revenge for the successful recall of #China-friendly mayor #HanKuoyu - has failed. Failed by a mile.

The KMT should find a constructive way back into TW politics rather than acting as #Beijing's stooge and throwing intestines.

In another display of partisan bullshittery, #KMT members of #Kaohsiung's city parliament knew no better than to protest at the first appearance of newly-elected mayor #ChenChiMei (who replaces the recalled #HanKuoyu). That protest focussed on a national issue that does not lie in the competence of a city - being laxer rules for Ractopamine in pork meat, which is a talking point between #Taiwan and the #UnitedStates as part of a #trade agreement.

As I said: Partisan bullshittery.

I read that 500 elderly sore losers and #KMT supporters protested the #recall vote against #Kaohsiung's mayor #HanKuoyu and called for revenge recalls on #Taipei's Ketagalan boulevard. Let's just say that venue has seen some bigger crowds in the past calling for more noble causes than vindictiveness and support for a populist loudmouth that would not follow up on his great promises. And oh joy: «White wolf» and triad gangster #ChangAnlee also attended the protest. #Taiwan

After the successful #recall effort, an acting mayor for #Kaohsiung will be appointed by #Taiwan's Executive Yuan with a by-election to be held within three months.

Safe to say that Total Recall is not #HanKuoyu's favourite movie...

No more Korean fish in #Kaohsiung's townhall: #HanKuoyu is the first head of one of #Taiwan's special municipalities to get recalled from office.
Two years ago, Han had gathered 892'545 votes in his favor to become the mayor of the nation's second largest city. Today 939'090 votes were in favour of his recall and only 25'051 against. Looks like the #KMT's call not to participate in the recall vote resonated with its supporters.
A defeat for Han and the KMT, a win for #democracy in Taiwan.

#KMT politicians are criticizing #Taiwan's government for trying to influence the outcome of the #recall vote aimed against #HanKuoyu.
They point at discounted train tickets for students to get to #Kaohsiung from Taipei (keep in mind that remote voting by mail is not an option in #Taiwan).

These train tickets would only lead to more people actually voting. If you are in favour of #democracy, you should never oppose anything that raises #participation and thus #legitimacy. What's up, KMT?

A third attempt of #HanKuoyu's lawyers to stop the #recall vote from going ahead on June 6th has been rejected at the #Taipei High Administrative Court.

Oh wow, #Taiwan's #KMT really is a tone-deaf bunch. On June 6 the people of #Kaohsiung are going to vote on the #recall of failed presidential candidate and populist loudmouth #HanKuoyu aka Korean Fish. He has angered the electorate by neglecting his duties as mayor of the city, running for the Presidency within 6 months of getting elected as mayor. Now the KMT wants to run with #JohnnyChiang - so they still see that office as a step on the career ladder and not a lot more. #democracy

Oh, I almost forgot that the #recall of #KoreanFish is still ongoing in #Kaohsiung. Will #HanKuoyu pay the price for abusing the post as mayor of #Taiwan's second-largest city as a springboard for his ill-fated presidential run, neglecting his duties as mayor and not following up on his unhinged and populist promises? It would certainly be an emancipative sign of a strong #civicsociety to call this blow frog to order and remove him from office.

#HanKuoYu, the presidential candidate of the #KMT, not only got a beating in the elections for the presidency, losing by 18.5% to incumbent #TsaiIngwen. His party also lost all eight seats for the #LegislativeYuan in #Kaohsiung to the #DPP, adding to the humiliation as Han has been the mayor of that harbour city in the South of Taiwan since 2018. #Populism does not age well as big words need to be followed up by big deeds to avoid disappointment.

Despite #HanKuoYu's seemingly mad advice to his supporters to wrongly identify as Tsai supporters to pollsters in order to de-mobilize the support for the DPP, the polls were correct when predicting a 20% winning margin for incumbent president Tsai. With its focus on the #KMT as its ally within #Taiwan, #China has made the wrong bet. No doubt #Zhongnanhai and its mouthpieces in the state-controlled media will scream and yell at the result of these #elections. #democracy #FarEast

First results are coming in from #Taiwan's presidential #elections. Seen his utterly weak campaign of hollow consumerism, self-pity and talking down Taiwan, #HanKuoYu of the #KMT scores a surprisingly good result. Still #TsaiIngwen looks to get reelected comfortably and without the need for a second ballot. #JamesSoong of the PFP only stole a small amount of votes from the KMT.

This guy is so old-school and out of time, playing mahjong all night at a #mistress' apartment that he (uhm, taxpayers?) paid for. Taking that same mistress to up to six trips to #China (no, zero #kompramat potential here...) and trying to score with #misogynist jokes. Seriously what was the KMT thinking? Taiwan is a diverse society where women have found their place, and this candidate is bound to fail!
