I managed to take ten minutes away from my desk tonight to sit outside and just be. The #moon was bright and the #sky was a gradient of blues. It was still warm at 2225hrs when I sat in the yard of the station at #Hanley and just breathed for a little while before taking this photo, which is unedited other than a crop.

It was my reason to smile today.

I’m on leave this week, but I spent the day #today delivering some “awareness sessions” (not allowed to call it #training, don’t ask) at both #Hanley and #HQ. They went well, and I’ve been wanting to do the HQ ones for two years now. Today was the 1st of 5 dates I have booked in. It was well received, the group were engaged, and feedback was good. I’m happy with that, so it counts as #Day3 of my #100HappyDays/#365HappyDays challenge.

To complete the trilogy #thegameplace #stone the only video game store in the town, next closest was it's big sister in #longton and little sister in #hanley. 2009-2015 pictured in march 2012 before a "golden period" which saw it regularly beat longton despite being a third of its size but it's collapse was swift in 2015 as digital distribution took the customers and the tenant of the flat above defaulted, then robbed me, then squatted - the straw that broke the business!

The cash machine installed in 2011 had been done without planning consent, the council enforced removal which coincided with an offer for the lease. I couldn't get out fast enough. A financial disaster for me and my business.

The old place has been through the usual story of big stores leaving, half the shops closing, but it's hanging on still!

I'm going to visit #Hanley #stokeontrent today, it used to be a thriving metropolis, the shopping centre, social meeting place, and commerce hub of Stoke on Trent, but apparently it is gutted and a shell of its former self.
