German academics abroad have published a statement on the proposed reform of #WissZeitVG (in German; English version to follow).
They point out that Germany is not a #ResearchWonderland & that these plans will increase the brain drain abroad & weaken Germany as a place for science.

The brain drain abroad will increase with the reform of #WissZeitVG and #UgNovelle, #hannagehtinsausland. Germany and Austria will lose their attractiveness as science and business locations. But the brain drain also favours already privileged groups without visa restrictions or care obligations (#IchBinReyhan). The waste of taxpayers' money associated with brain drain and drop out will therefore continue to increase. (14)
