It's a little weird to see how omnipresent the #HanseaticLeague is in #Hamburg

Obviously it shaped this city, but I wasn't expecting it to be so celebrated. It wasn't exactly a benevolent organization; they had no qualms about starving entire communities to force them into trade agreements that were favourable to the league.

Yet every other building seems to sport the name on its front in large letters, often accompanied by claims of being "traditional".

Makes me instantly distrustful.
