It has been a WEEK... both figuratively AND literally. I wasn't 200 miles into my move on Monday, and my brand new moving truck and trailer had a blowout on I-80. I waited in the middle of nowhere from 6pm to midnight for 2 tow trucks, which added a day to the move. The good news: I made it to Billings Thursday afternoon and to work at KTVQ Friday morning! WHEW! The moral of the story: remember to get the insurance!

What an exciting morning. Got to watch the Fire Department rescue a duckling from the sewer. A woman saw a mama duck lose 7 ducklings down a drain this morning. The mama pulled 6 out but one was stuck. Lady waited almost 2 hours for the FD to show up and they successfully brought out the little duckling. She drove away with it in her hand. Glad the story had a happy ending :)

That brings to mind the time when a fieldmouse moved into my porch & hid under the freezer. Every night he came out, my dogs barked, & I rushed in there - too late! One day I came into the porch with my dogs & he was sitting on the freezer plug, looking at me . 🤣
I jammed a tub against the wall, trapping him - only to realise I couldn't reach a lid & when I moved it he would be off!
Thankfully he jumped the right way, into the tub, & was released in the field.

We needed a door for one of the kids so I picked up Dad's car for the morning and we went to the tip shop. We'd measured the car and the door, but when we got the door to the car it looked like it was going to maybe not fit?

As we were angling it this way and that, we heard a voice behind us.

'Is it gonna go in?'

Adam said he thought so...

And then the guy says, 'You live on [XXXX] Street, don't you? If it doesn't fit, I've got the ute. Could drop it off for you.'

At that very moment, we managed to get it in and I turned to thank the guy --- who I've never seen before in my life, but who knows where we live because that's what it's like when you're in this small place, haha! People know you, even when you think you're walking around, being anonymous. And they are kind, too!!

Here's a story with a #HappyEnding

So Mum has been at the care home for a few weeks and they take the residents out once a week on a bus trip. Lasts a couple of hours and they go to various places around town.

When I spoke to the occupational therapist she asked if Mum would like to go, and I said I thought it would be a great idea. But when I spoke to Dad, he said he thought it would make her too anxious and didn't want her to go.

This week Dad had a missed call when he was out and they left a message: it was the home and they said Mum really wanted to go on the trip -- could she go?

Well, by the time he rang back the bus had left, but... they had made an executive decision because she was so looking forward to it, and rather than disappoint her, they'd taken her with them. Yay!!

And Dad was OK with it too. We talked about his concerns (that she'd get upset and/or overtired) and together came to the conclusion that the home is well equipped to deal with all that.

Main thing is, Mum got to do something fun and Dad is getting better at letting go. And she didn't get left behind.

This little guy is Hank, a 3 month old French bull dog who belongs to my daughters boyfriend.

Yesterday a bad guy snatched him right in front of him. He was able to give a vehicle description to dispatch, and the cops found and pulled over the car.

Hank is back safe and sound with one bad guy in jail on felony theft.
