Although credited to Cliff, who contributes soulful gems including “Many Rivers to Cross” and “Sitting in Limbo,” this OST to the film brings together early Jamaican luminaries like The Maytals, Desmond Dekker, and The Melodians (whose “Rivers of Babylon” is a definitive Rastafarian anthem). Released on Island, the LP set the stage for reggae’s international boom during the 1970s.
