I am really enjoying the Hard Fork podcast after listening to it for a few months. It's a sometimes light and fun look at serious issues around the tech industry. The hosts share their opinions and one of them is advocate for the Fediverse, the other host is less enthused.

Listening to the #NYT #HardFork dudes interview the #safestreetrebel #transit activists putting cones on autonomous vehicles.

I like this podcast, but as "technologists", the hosts are pretty myopic for about the problem of car centrism:

"AVs are safer than humans, so this is a net positive"

Guys! It's about sustainable systems away from car dependency!!

"Public transit is inferior product with cost overruns"

Implying that car dependent infrastructure isn't while treating it as always free and always given

"Well internationally it's easier to take a taxi than to use transit"

You either don't travel internationally or you don't bother to use world class transit when it is sitting right in front you.

So... on the dark side, google pushed a web protocol change proposal to create DRM that would "certify" the toolchain of your PC to the website you go to. This is patently evil --- and completely anti-open-source.

... but it did kinda jive with the discussion on today's #hardfork podcast regarding proving you are human.
