Day 4 – Most recent game bought.

That’s easy. I just backed the Kingdom of Azadmere Kickstarter. I try to preorder from stores rather than KS, but #Harnworld and Kevin Crawford games seem to be the exception.

Pedants might say a Harn kingdom book is a setting, not a game, which is a fair argument. In that case, it was the revised #BRP core book.

Hurtling through my fourth decade though, and pdfs can sometimes strain my eyes, so am eagerly awaiting a POD.

I‘ve been fascinated by the #Harnworld setting for a long time, given its attempt to provide a somehow believable milieu for playing low fantasy campaigns that consider the scope of medieval technology and economy as well as the implications of social class.
Question to you #ttrpg folk: Which rules-lite (!) approach would you choose to emulate a medieval-ish and „Harn—esque“ fantasy setting revolving around themes such as petty intrigue, feudal nonsense, gritty combat, and domain management?

Und damit meine ich nicht, die gängigen Fantalalter-Trappings, sondern Überlegungen in Bezug auf das Wirtschaftssystem bis auf die Ebene einzelner Manor Houses. Just wow

I don’t do many Kickstarters and I was in two minds whether to carry on with the Kingdoms of #Harn hardbacks. The product quality is excellent, but the fulfilment to the UK has been a bit erratic for my personal tastes (even by today’s uncertain standards of shipping logistics).

But I’m obviously some sort of easily mollified magpie because they’re now doing the #HarnWorld master module and the #Harndex in hardback and I’m in.

Auch von mir die besten Wünsche zu den Feiertagen. Hinter Tor 24 gab es PnP Standardliteratur, eine DM-Jacke +2, selbst gestrickte Fußknöchelwärmer +1 und einige Harnworld Module als PDFs. Andere Hobbies sind dieses Jahr zu kurz gekommen.

Hârn (Hârnworld in later editions, to distinguish it from a game system made available for those who don't have hundreds just lying around I guess?) is startlingly in its prime, when creator N. Robin Crossby was still its creative force. I think what still stands out is that Crossby, more than any other game writer I know of, could make simple regional poltics feel like they crackled with possibility and passion.
