#Harpy society is nebulous, with members joining and leaving flocks at will, especially when two flocks mingle. Flocks do not have true hierarchies, laws, or even a concept of "property" beyond what is occupied or carried, and make decisions on a group basis, making the harpies an example of functional Anarchy. This can sometimes confuse negotiators, as individuals cannot make decisions for the group, nor do they even understand the idea of "claims" to land or unguarded property.
As human encroachment and warfare drove the #Harpies from the homelands they were adapted for into desolate mountain ranges, they have developed a generational resentment towards other species, mainly humanoids and goblinoids, who they refer to as the somewhat-pejorative "ground dwellers", who they describe as bloodthirsty monsters seeking constant warfare. This does not refer to Zillan or Trolls, as those races never had civilizations to encroach upon them.
The original habitat of the #Harpies was the tropical and temperate woodlands near the Gap, which was directly irradiated by the space object which caused the cataclysm during its fall. Harpies still speak in folklore of the time they lived in trees. However, in the decades after the cataclysm, as humans resettled the lands, the large birds were driven into areas which humans could not easily colonize, most notably, the peaks of deadly mountain ranges.
#Harpies are known for their venom, but this is a myth. Harpies are, in themselves, not venomous, but purposefully ingest and/or coat themselves in a large amount of toxins, to which they are immune, a trait which they picked up from the birds they were created from. Because of this, a skin-piercing bite or scratch from a Harpy is likely to result in extreme reactions, possibly fatal, especially if they have the means to refine and apply the poison beforehand.
