TIL that Keir's disk-utilities do seamless conversion between SuperCard Pro (.scp) and Kryoflux (.ipf) formats.

I just think it's time to move on, the decade changed. #Eurovision is now providing stuff like #Måneskin or #Zalagasper, #Mahmood and #Blanco, #Hatari.. exciting, new and genuine European music. After dorking with it for a few evenings, I have a usable Hatari setup for emulating an Atari ST.

Based on the Mark Williams C product, I've got a basic shell, a basic editor (micro emacs), and a basic K&R C compiler.

This was almost working after an hour of fiddling - Hatari is easy to set up. But it took a while to get the {} keys working. Big thanks to Eero Tamminen on the Hatari Users mailing list for the solution.

Now it's time to upgrade from 'basic' functions as I start a project. I'd like to port some of the OpenBSD games to the ST.

I don't know how I missed this before, but the 2.4.x versions of the Hatari (Atari ST) emulator released last summer fixed the RS-232/serial problems that had plagued me on the Mac for a decade! 😀 🖥️

Now I can use Hatari with tcpser to call BBSes from an emulated Atari ST without the emulator locking up.

@daftwullie Eigentlich sollten die Disks auch am PC lesbar sein. Ansonsten lassen sie sich physikalisch leicht auslesen. Ein solches Disketten-Image kann dann mit einem Emulator wie z.B. #Hatari (https://hatari.tuxfamily.org/download.html) bearbeitet werden.

Zweite Variante: Wenn der Atari noch läuft, die Files über serielle Schnittstelle mit zmodem auf einen anderen Rechner übertragen. So habe ich vor etlichen Jahren meine gesamten Files vom 1040ST auf eine Linux-Box transferiert - braucht aber etwas Geduld 😏

@gse Der #AtariST war damals bezahlbar und konnte mehr Speicher adressieren als der PC. Meinen hatte ich per Lötkolben auf gigantische 2,5MB aufgerüstet - beim PC war damals bei 640kB Schluss.

Die Atari-Hardware habe ich zwar heute nicht mehr, aber Daten und Programme habe ich über #zmodem auf meine Linux-Box transferiert, wo sie unter #hatari weiterleben 😉
