#Paris may not be best known for its fountains, but the #Medici #Fountain in the Luxembourg Gardens is always worth a visit. It was originally constructed in 1630 for Marie de Médicis, the queen regent of France (and a very forceful, unsubtle person). The entire fountain was moved by 30 meters and altered a bit when Baron #Haussmann rerouted the traffic arteries of Paris during 1864-1866.

Charles #Marville (1813–79) was commissioned by Napoleon III to document districts doomed by crews under Georges-Eugène #Haussmann, in the name of urban renewal. Countless mysteries of #MedievalParis, lost forever, were imaged by his lens—they're world treasures; a legacy of uninhabited memory. Haunted.
