Was getting dressed and didn't shake my pants out...got bit four times on the upper inner thigh by a 5" long centipede. Boyfriend sucked out the venom with his anti-venom kit, now we're applying a hot pack (denatures the venom proteins) then cold packs (reduces pain and swelling). I'm not going to be able to sit up for a day or few.

Lesson learned: shake anything out before I put it on or carry it someplace.

Most interesting thing I saw #today was: as I drove along the highway, I saw 2 guys, walking 4 dogs on leashes. The guys had what looked to be large backpacks. As I got closer, what I thought was a large backpack, was actually a 100ish lb. dead feral pig, being carried on his back. One of the men was literally carrying the dead pig, piggy back, like a 100ish lb. person. It did not slow him down and a sight to behold. #HawaiiLife #EatLocal

So you go a ways north. Then you take the cutoff. Then you go towards public parking. Then you go south. Then you go across a lava field. Then you pull right up to the ocean break and count your blessings that all those storms, trials, and betrayals made you a better man.

Here's a crazy thing that I do with a friend.
Every Sunday, we chop down 8ft tall invasive guinea grass on the Ka‘awaloa Trail. If we don't do this, it only takes a few weeks for the top half mile of the trail to completely grow over, forcing hikers to push through the grass. Guinea grass has little barbed teeth on the edges that can cut any uncovered skin. I've been cut on my arms, legs, face, and forehead. It stings for a few days afterward.
