Idk... While #haxe is neat... I'm not the biggest fan of the abstraction #haxeflixel provides. It's like swimming in a sugary lake.
And by the way, once Chibi Ninja Shino-kun is out, I'll be writing up a few #HaxeFlixel tutorials based on what I learned while making it!
Once that is done, then I just need to work on the random spawning of bugs and the win/loss functionality. Those won't be too hard to implement. Once that is done, I just have to make sure the game code is properly commented, the README file is written, a blog post written, and then published to itch.io and my Patreon. #HaxeFlixel #indiedev #opensource

Yesterday, I got some more work done on my latest #opensource #HaxeFlixel #indiedev game. I am making a gallery shooter style game an it is coming along. I took a looooooong hiatus and am making a goal to finish the game this week. Yesterday, I programmed the animation behavior of 3 of the 4 creatures you have to squish. Working on the final more complicated Fly today. The others just used simple velocities and angle changing. The Fly will be using a FlxTween.

Thought I would share the actual format for the .desktop file for a #HaxeFlixel game. The Path, Exec, and Icon paths can be changed to match wherever you are installing the game. /usr/games/ is a standard location for Ubuntu and other Linux variants. #gamedev #linuxgaming
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Path=/usr/games/DinoCross/
Exec=/usr/games/DinoCross/DinoCross
Name=Dino Cross
Icon=/usr/games/DinoCross/DinoCross.png

Wondering if anyone here has any ideas. I am working in Ubuntu and want to create a .desktop for my #HaxeFlixel game. I created it and everything looks right. The .desktop file opens the game but it crashes immediately. I can run the game by double clicking the executable directly. I can run the game through terminal using the exact same path I set in the .desktop file. Anyone here have any ideas? #gamedev #ubuntu
Well, here's that big announcement: Go! Go! PogoGirl is hitting consoles on Feb 10th! Yup, that's only 10 days away. Get HYPED! https://www.ohsat.com/post/pogogirl-hits-consoles-soon/

I am primarily a backend PHP developer with experience with Laravel, Magento, Wordpress and Drupal. I know my way around the front end, but it is not my strong suit. I am more suited to bug fixes on that front rather than pure development. I am also a #HaxeFlixel developer and would love to go into #Haxe and #OpenFL development if there are career options on that side of things.
Oh my gourd, this patch looks great!

Raspberry Pi Support has landed in the 8.2.0-Dev branch of lime.
I have some more testing to do but it means the (coming) end of my custom fork.

One of the things I had to do to optimize a #haxeflixel demo for the #raspberrypi was scaling down graphics to fit in a native display resolution. I.e 640x480. I’m running the apps with and without X11. Without x11 sdl switches display resolution to the closest matching setting to the width and height in your project.xml. Low resolutions can run at decent fps. At 1024x768 you’ll start droppin frames quickly. On x11 fps is always lower.

So I was just letting my two youngest kids play my #opensource #HaxeFlixel game Unicorn Dash. And I did not realize just how much of a buggy mess it is. Found out that if you hold two direction keys at the same time, you crash and lose. If you draw a line right next to another line and turn, your butt hits the other line and you lose. If more than 10 or so lines are on the screen, it slows down a LOT. It does the job of being a Light Cycles clone, but not well.
So, I am taking the plunge and reopening my Patreon. Instead of blogging, I have changed it to support my #opensource projects using #HaxeFlixel. I really want to keep this going and want to give people the option to support me directly.
Testing the #haxeflixel 5 flxCollision demo on the #raspberrypi 4. Smooth 63FPS at 640x480. (wrong aspect ratio is due to my hdmi-capture-device)
