From @MoriartyLab except BirdChan:

📣 The Apr 9-15
Canadian COVID Forecast and
associated data are now live¹. 📣

SEVERE: CAN, BC, NS, PEI, SK
VERY HIGH: MB, NL, North, ON, QC
HIGH: NB
ELEVATED: AB

✨️ About 1 in 30 people in Canada is CURRENTLY infected. ✨️

Link to weekly report and associated data here: covid19resources.ca/covid-haza

We're still doing some model updates in the background, so there is still some shifting of forecast scores for recent weeks.

✨️ A key change is that we've redone weighting of waste water inputs using reinfection-adjusted seroprevalence from Dec/21 to Jan 31/23 to estimate infections/100K people for each province's waste water inputs.

For provinces without waste water data going back to Dec/21, we use the longest stretch of data we have to do the weighting.

✨️ The other thing that has changed about waste water weighting is comparison to the lowest point of the pandemic (wrt excess mortality).

Our baseline for comparison was just before Delta, when the majority of people 60 and older were freshly, fully vaccinated.

When adjusting waste water signal for relative severity, we used to divide Omicron waste water signal by about 2, to reflect reduced severity.

Read the rest of the thread at:
nitter.net/MoriartyLab/status/

_______
¹ NOTE: On Sep 20/22 we revised the hazard index inputs and scale so that it now corresponds directly to expected toxic drug-corrected excess mortality. A score of <1 (LOW) means that COVID is not expected to cause substantial excess mortality. A score of 1-2 means that COVID is expected to cause 1-2% excess mortality (or about 2X more deaths than flu in an average year). A score of >2-4 means that COVID is expected to cause 2-4% excess mortality etc. For reference, average drug death-adjusted excess mortality for the COVID epidemic in Canada until Omicron (Dec 2/21) is currently ~7%.

² The Hazard Index is calculated from 3
equally weighted categories: 1) Current
infections and spread, 2) Healthcare
system impact; 3) Mortality. Within each
category there is one sub-category for
trends over the most recent week
(Trends) and one sub-category for
current parameter values relative to a
specified baseline (Current values).
Trends and current values are weighted
equally when determining the final score
for a category. All Hazard Index input
data and sources are available here. Past
hazard index scores are available in the
Table below. Hazard index scores are
grouped into 6 ranges: LOW (<1, blue),
MODERATE (1 to <2, white), ELEVATED (2
to <4, yellow), HIGH (4 to <6, light
orange), VERY HIGH (6 to <8, dark
orange), SEVERE (>8 red).
