The lack if benefits given to hospital employees is so profound that if a newer worker gets sick or has a baby the more senior workers have to donate their own vacation hours to them. Otherwise they have no way to put food on the table. Now they are abolishing even that. Now a new system is coming-we will be placed on "temporary disability" at 60% of our base pay for maternity leave. America isn't great- it's a joke. #healthcarecollapse

The lack of paid maternity leave at HOSPITALS in the USA is appalling. A new coworker working in the MATERNITY UNIT didn't have enough sick/vacation time. So in order for her to be on leave after HAVING a BABY she had to come in and work one day a week. American healthcare is a JOKE. We are the laughingstock of the planet. FOR PROFIT HEALTHCARE IS EVIL #healthcarecollapse

Nurses get little help for mental health issues relating to work. There is the EAP which gives you 3 "free" counseling sessions for a crisis. That is a JOKE especially if you live in a rural community. Plus there is the stigma attached. You think only soldiers have PTSD? I can describe the differences between blown up (gunshot) brains and smashed on the pavement(car accident) brains. Aaand the difference between infant/child brains and adult brains. #healthcarecollapse

Nurses, especially the older ones, have this bizzare work ethic that it makes you a "better nurse" if you work nearly 13 hrs without a break. They are really NASTY to their coworkers that can't keep up that ideal. It took me a long time to realize I was an idiot for trying. All we have done is kill ourselves putting millions of $ in some lazy CEO's pocket. Nurses are the best enablers of this broken system. 😡 #healthcarecollapse

Out of a 12hr and 45min shift the hospital allows one unpaid lunch lasting 30minutes. Although you are not being paid they do not allow you to leave the building even to go outside to say take a walk. You must be available to give care and can have your lunch break cut short for any number of reasons. The admin can revoke your lunch break if it is busy but they have to pay you is all. So many shifts of being on my feet for a solid 14hrs sometimes not being able to pee even. #healthcarecollapse

The hospital I quit has no maternity leave (yet has a maternity unit) so if a employee needs to take maternity leave-they force them to go on "temporary disabilty" at 60 PERCENT of their BASE pay.
