Published my first #animation for my BCPH #publichealth Thought Leader fellowship: https://youtu.be/_oNmDHmsiRA
In it, I use the example of Rebecca Black to understand the risks of #healthcommunication in the pandemic era, and point to action items individuals, organizations, and policymakers can take to tackle the issue of harassment of health officials.

Made this graphic to pull out some action items around making health communication safer. I've seen toolkits around online safety focused on individual-level actions. While there are a lot of good resources out there, I also think it's important to call on universities and government agencies to proactively plan for cases of online harassment. I also see a big gap in data to help us understand what coordinate harassment on health officials looks like.

I launched my #partysOver blog and video series today, with the Boston Congress of #publichealth It's a reimagining of public health communication for the pandemic era, amid a changing relationship to information and digital media. The first post looks at ways to make #healthcommunication safer, taking lessons from the story of Rebecca Black: https://bcph.org/health-communication-rebecca-black/

OK, maybe there is a solid #HealthCommunication reason for this? I mean, once you hit the "hazardous" category, I guess it doesn't really matter *exactly how far* above 300 points the AQI is....
@plaguepoems
Hah!
Here, the mayor's air quality warning yesterday didn't mention respirators at all. Today, it said "you can wear an N95S."
Can? Is it supposed to be permission? Ability? Possibility?

This blue check mess is certainly not making public health messaging any easier. #Twitter #publichealth #healthcommunication

Why TikTok now is what Facebook was
While there are both positive and negative aspects to this, the potential for content creators to reach a large audience without necessarily having millions of followers is highly attractive.

Messaging about the freedom to breath COVID-free air? To go to work and to spend money in our service-oriented economy without having to worry about personal risk mitigation all the time? That sounds great to me, and if it works for reactant people too, let's try it. It can't be worse than the #HealthCommunication status quo.
I love genealogy, but I work as a health content writer, helping patients understand health information.
I love how this cartoon shares the voice and perspective of a person with dementia. So well done!
