Both the undirected and under-utilization of health services reflect navigation and accessibility issues. Support services such as interpretation and care navigation as well as outreach are therefore warranted.
Many thanks to the RESPOND team, to our respondents, and of course to co-author Martin Siegel!

"The use of racially offensive language among healthcare workers is another illustration of the reality of racial prejudice in healthcare. While there doesn’t appear to be much formal research regarding overt bias among healthcare professionals, there is increasing evidence of this online."

That's my little contribution to greater #equity in #GlobalHealth.
So gimme all your lovely manuscripts on health inequities affecting migrant and minority groups, on the structural determinants of these inequities, and esp. on migration, precarious labour and health!

@jessiet From a European perspective, we're not (only) missing race and ethnicity data. We're primarily missing data on migration status, legal status, country of birth, primary language, etc. - alongside SES and occupation. Those things are often more useful than race/ethnicity to explain differential exposures, risks and #HealthInequities.
" ..the most important form of ‘social distance’ imposed by the #pandemic was not spatial, not a matter of meters. It was the temporal distance between rich and poor, between those who could escape the worst effects of the virus and those whose lives were abbreviated by it. Modernity established a biopolitical chasm – a social distancing of death – that was widened and accentuated by the #Covid19 crisis."
