The "castle" is a silly place one really only needs to see once, IMHO. This is the "Roman Pool", one of the visually most appealing and stylistically least offensive 😜 parts of the "castle".

Walking through one of the guest houses at Hearst Castle, I pause before a painting, pensive.

"Is that a portrait of the vampire Nadja?"

Nope.

Visited Hearst Castle in the rain today. It was beautiful. Never been? Worth the trip!

Central California estate built 100 years ago by publishing mogul William Hearst. Designed by architect Julia Morgan, first woman to have a practice in California. Big deal for early 1900s.

Hearst was an avid collector, sourcing art from around the world. Includes four original 16th century tapestries—whose copies are in the Louvre. Incredible.
