On this date in 1999, #author Mario Puzo passed away. Born in #manhattan in 1920, he is of course known for #thegodfather which remained on the #nyt #bestseller list for over a year. He also won an #Oscar for his work on the film’s #screenplay. Although he wrote other #books and screenplays, nothing came close to matching the success he found with the #Corleone family.
