To my friends in the USA, heat is NOT, ever, your friend.

Australians largely grew up with melting bicycle tyres and burned feet, but too many in places like the urban US have had it easy and don't understand just how bloody hot it can get, especially those bits of infrastructure that have the sun on them for extended periods, like roads, footpaths, and railings.

Heat that just keeps on going, long after the sun has gone down.
