Great Albums, 1970s, No. 30: (1978). Rockford’s finest were a perfect amalgam of styles and images kicking around the late-70 rock scene—and this third LP is where it all came together. “Surrender,” “On Top of the World,” “High Roller,” and “Still Competition” all dwell on the heavier side of power pop, balanced by a glossy Move cover, “California Man,” and the Beatles-meets-Zeppelin crawl of “Heaven Tonight.”
