#scotus skroowed the pooch on this case. They missed a golden opportunity to rule that the Berne Copyright Convention is incompatible with the US Constitition, and that, as directed by the #constitution , #copyright in the US is currently unconstitutional and should expire after 28 years.

#Copyright was intended to last for a limited time, not to provide a continuing income stream for creators, and certainly not for the #heirs and #estates.

@torrentfreak Copyright should go back to 14 years, with one 14-year renewal term. This would follow the letter and spirit of the #Constitution, as copyright was originally intended to be.

#copyright was never intended to be a continuing income stream for the creator, and certainly not for the #heirs and #estates.

I thought of the #British #RoyalFamily remembering a line from #EdithWharton's novel #AgeOfInnocence set in 1870's upper-crust& aristocracy-simulating New York society: "In reality they all lived in a kind of hieroglyphic world, where the real thing was never said or done or even thought but only represented by a set of arbitrary signs".
