So I have been letting these hybrids mature and they don’t seem to wish to change colour and they are just staying green as part of the mutation.

And today I tested them out and sliced up 6 of them and ate them and I knew I was in trouble the second I sliced them from the smell. 💀

Los demonios también necesitan sus propios barrios donde infernar a mortales, montar bandas de punk-pop en garajes y hacer tupper-sex con sus vecinos. A todo ello lo denominamos infierno.

Por definición, el infierno es #fantasía pura. Posee diferentes manifestaciones y si le preguntas a Google te dará un sin fin de peculiares rutas de entrada. En diversas culturas se dan lugares marcados en la geografía de la zona donde se cree que hay una entrada a tierras demoníacas. Es el umbral con lo sobrenatural, el miedo manifestado en madera, roca y agua.

En cuanto a donde se encuentra, varía de una cultura a otra. Lo usual es que esté en el inframundo, se vincule con la vida ultraterrena y tome el cariz de castigo a las transgresiones realizadas en vida.

También los tenemos adaptados a las transgresiones de sus mortales o a los intereses de sus habitantes. Incluso las hay en tu mente, todo para adaptarse a las necesidades más variopintas.

¿Qué persigue el ser humano al crear un lugar como el infierno? Responder a esa pregunta permite definirlo dentro de unos parámetros culturales.
Una cultura que no cree en la vida tras la muerte ve el infierno como un lugar al que temer en tu día a día. Habita en todo lo que puede hacerte daño y perjudicarte.
Si crees en el más allá es un castigo para los impuros o el destino último de todos los seres, esto dependerá de la visión que se tenga de la vida tras la muerte.

Me encanta cómo se juega en la #fantasía con el concepto de infierno. Es muy visual, metafórico y visceral hacer algo dantesco. Sin embargo, personalizar ese espacio para una tortura más compleja, como hemos podido experimentar en la ficción televisiva, es una maravilla.

Por ello, os recomiendo que le echéis un ojo a series como Supernatural, The Good Place o Ángel. Tratan de una forma costumbrista la vida tras la muerte. Ya sé que la razón fundamental es que es un recurso que abarata el coste de representar esas realidades, sobretodo en una época donde los efectos visuales eran más caros y más cutres. No obstante, esa limitación juega a su favor. Es la manifestación de nuestra vida por medio de espejos distorsionados, jugando con el extrañamiento y el drama subyacente de manera recurrente.

Ya lo dijo Fernando en La Tempestad: El infierno está vacío y todos los demonios se hallan aquí.

Hay un detalle que me inspira mucha ternura en la nueva versión de la ilustración de Jim Lee, dibujada por David Nakayama.

Y es que Pícara, en la original, estaba triste y sola. Mientras que ahora está arropada por Gambito, feliz.

Me alegra el corasonsito.
