Theoden: tragic, noble, and human. Just less than two minutes long, but it's got to be one of the standout scenes and speeches in the LOTR (film) trilogy. I also would like to think that once the "backup" elf fighters arrive, all those poor kids and old men were sent back to the caves for safety though clearly some of the old men and Hama's son stay behind to fight.

@HippieScubaSteve all three films were so spectacular and so very well done, but I think was the best movie-going experience both because we didn’t quite know what to expect and because it was more character building moments, not just action scene after action scene. (Not saying I don’t like a good action scene, but is one chapter in the book while it feels like half the TT film.)
