Adolf von #Henselt was a true poet of the piano, admired by Robert and championed by @claraschumann, who also premiered his insanely difficult piano concerto (harder then #Rach3). One of his champions is Daniel Grimwood, who just released the Henselt études, with preambles! Exceptional and standard setting interpretations of these poetic masterpieces. I like the second set even more (tracks 15-26).

#nowlistening to the third piano concerto by Ferdinand #Hiller (1811-1885), almost an exact contemporary of both #Henselt, #Alkan and #Liszt. Hiller was not only a tremendously good composer, he was also very friendly: he corresponded with everything and everyone. Because he was also neat and careful, many of his letters have been preserved. As a result, we know so much about all these nineteenth-century people. 1/2
