Aquilonifer spinosus was an arthropod from the Herefordshire Lagerstatte. Tiny critters, possibly its young, were found on its legs (seen here in a dark yellow). This is an extremely rare example of arthropod parental care in the fossil record.

Dibasterium durgae was an ancient horseshoe crab from the Herefordshire Site in England. It was partly named after Durga, a Hindu goddess with many arms.

Dalmanites is the first Silurian trilobite with soft parts preserved in 3D. This remarkable specimen has its delicate legs preserved which normally rot away before fossilization.

Sollasina cthulhu was a sea urchin-relative from the Silurian Herefordshire Lagerstatte. Aptly named, it used its 45 tentacle-like tube feet to crawl around the ancient sea floor.

This week we'll scan the English, Silurian-age Herefordshire site. This site yields 3D fossils with soft tissues. Normal preparation methods would destroy the fossils but modern computers can recreate them digitally.
