The World Council of Churches- the main #ecumenical body, with #Protestant and #Orthodox members- puts out a strong statement denouncing the #war in #Ukraine, a year after #Russia's invasion. "We particularly reject any misuse of #theology and religious authority that seeks to justify it". Yet the body which uses #heretical theology to justify the war, the Russian Orthodox Church, remains a full member of the #WCC, and there are no member churches from Ukraine

I also grew up in an #evangelical environment, but we never believed in the #Rapture. It was considered to be a #heretical doctrine by our church and my parents. But I know how traumatizing it can be to watch #Christian movies. In the evangelical #cult we joined later, #movies about #hell and #communism made by Estus Pirkle were shown. Awful.

Are we starting to see how slightly #heretical sacrifice #symbology (pop culture) is not a good icon for #Fediverse?

We are quite certain that if there was a better Fediverse icon, 25 times more people would have 'clicked that link'.
