APOPO HeroRATs trains African giant pouched rats to sniff out land mines and tuberculosis!

The Pika Project monitors pika populations in the Colorado mountains. You can volunteer to help out, and the data gained goes towards helping conservation and preventing climate change.

Cool, the #HeroRats are learning a new trade! I’ve been reading about them for a while now. There are already Hero #Rat teams out in the field searching for landmines, and they’ve also been trained to detect tuberculosis in samples (but I don’t know offhand if that’s in real use yet); now they’re being trained and equipped for disaster search-and-rescue.
