#RPGaDay2023 day 30!
30. I don't know that I've played any truly obscure #TTRPG games. #HeroSystem isn't super popular these days, but you can't go into a forum without finding a few fans lurking. I tend to play a lot of games like that, actually: not everyone has heard of it, but there's always at least one tabletop nerd in any group who's into whatever game I'm trying to run this time. I like to think that's because tabletop RPGers are a fairly eclectic bunch!

#RPGaDay2023 day 29!
29. My most memorable #TTRPG encounter is hard to pin down: I've had a *lot* of great moments in this hobby! Most of my favorites are from superhero games in #HeroSystem. I had a giant robot catch a falling building and fix it so the rest of the team could catch the villain, a long-range battle with a villain sniping from the Great Pyramid of Giza where we had to redefine 1 map hex to be 1 kilometer, and a boss fight with two parties inside a psychic maelstrom. Good times!

#RPGaDay2023 day 27!
27. I can't really think of any #TTRPG games that I'd like a new edition of. Most of my current favorites already have an edition I'm pretty happy with: #HeroSystem 6e is totally playable and still works fine, #Shadowrun 6e is totally uninteresting to me but I've still got a ton of 5e to play, and #DnD 5e has proven to me that I just don't like the core concepts of D&D so there's no way for a new edition to appeal to me. I'm content with my current pile of games, I suppose.

#RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 25 I have many unplayed #TTRPGs I REALLY want to play Is #Orun fm #NewAgendaPublishing its a #blerd space-opera rpg great concepts & well put together hardback with great art & narrative focus. the system reminds me of fate core actually. my #herosystem universe is very #blerd focused so it had me at 🖖
#rpgaday #rpgaday2023 #ttrpgs #orun #newagendapublishing #blerd #herosystem
#RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 24the most complex... what people would consider complex is hero system & starfinder. for me the complexity about the same just different design approaches. I barely notice it since I have been using #herosystem for well over 20 years. currently using starfinder universe as the basis of a starhero campaign.
#rpgaday #rpgaday2023 #herosystem
#RPGaDay2023 day 24!
24. The most complex #TTRPG I play would be #HeroSystem, but I find it's really worth it's crunch to have a system that complete and self-consistent.
I don't really play any "simple" TTRPGs. I'm a very simulationist tabletop gamer, so I want a game system that provides a sort of physics sandbox I can play around in. The modern rules-light games don't tend to provide that, so they're not my jam.

#RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 20. will I be playing in 20 yrs. GRRM still plays at his big age so I don't know but if I am i'm sure ill be run on 1 of my big 3 #herogames #heroSystem or #greenronin #AdventureGameEngine or #chaosium brp-universal game engine. I'm a world-builder at💙
#rpgaday #rpgaday2023 #herogames #herosystem #greenronin #adventuregameengine #chaosium
#RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 18 maybe you havent noticed a trend of my favorites but #herosystem has been king of the hill in my empire since I 1st picked up 3rd edition. this doesn't even included my pdfs, books on order or 2 books my padawan borrowed.
#rpgaday #rpgaday2023 #herosystem
#RPGaDay2023 day 18!
18. My favorite #TTRPG is #HeroSystem, hands down. It's fantastic for superheoic games (my favorite genre) because it allows you to do absolutely anything and have some idea of how that should compare to steel doors and thrown buses. It's crunchy, but it's a really great cinematic simulation of comic-style action and it handles other genres really well too.

#RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 17: one of the funniest games I played I created an adventure where the party was #herosystem version of Captain Carrot & the Zoo crew in #champions. the player shenanigans were hilarious
#rpgaday #rpgaday2023 #herosystem #champions
last week i fell asleep thinking about #ChampionsNow so i spent the evening rereading Champions Now while i waited for food to arrive. and the thing about Champions Now is that by paring away so much of the mechanical and cultural cruft of the #HeroSystem and its point-twiddling imitators, it made itself deeply unappealing to said point-twiddlers, but by calling itself #Champions, it made itself unappealing to nearly everyone else
#championsnow #herosystem #champions
#RPGaDay2023 day 12!
12. The olderst game I still play regularly is #HeroSystem 6E. It came out in 2009 and it remains my favorite #TTRPG of all time. I'll run that game anytime I can convince my group to play it.
#rpgaday2023 #herosystem #ttrpg
#RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 9: my dice of choice is obviously D6😂 my favs r the ugly orange my 1st set from D&D expert box. #RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 7: The smartest rpg comes down to the mount rushmore of toolkit games #HeroGames #HeroSystem #Chaosium Basic Roleplaying Universal game engine and stevejackson games #GURPS (sorry gurpsfederalagent). other great contenders but I don't have enough experience with are Age System from #greenronin & #montecookgames cypher system.
#rpgaday #rpgaday2023 #herogames #herosystem #chaosium #gurps #greenronin #montecookgames
#RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023 day 6: my favorite game I dont get to play is easy. Always the Gm never the player mind you have been running the system since sophormoe yr of HS 88' but only actually been on the player side of the equation less than 15 times #foreverGm #ForeverDM #champions #herosystem
#rpgaday #rpgaday2023 #forevergm #foreverdm #champions #herosystem
Games I'm interested in but have never gotten to play are #HeroSystem #StarTrekAdventures #Starfinder
I like open standards (APIs don't count), DIY efforts (IC and OOC!), mission-based play (instead of sandboxes or railroads), mysteries, nonviolent first resorts, pro-intellectualism, versatility (in both characters and systems), character competence, IC logistics, charop, fiddly flavorful mechanics, trope literacy, and reliable/dedicated players.

#herosystem #startrekadventures #starfinder
Tryin' to wrap my head around HERO System TTRPG a little.
I *think* I managed to spreadsheet together a technically valid character sheet. Blind fighter armed with smoke grenades to make sure nobodh can see, plus I did 5d6 Luck and Unluck not so much as a major character aspect as much as more "that's just the way that their life is, fortunes keepnon oscillating".
Also they Filthy Rich with 3 Martial Arts things (3 different Strike types) and +2 Damage Class
And more. #HEROSystem #TTRPG
its funny I am forever gm for #heroSystem & #Cyberpunkred when I played it was always #DungeonsandDragons. if #Wotc hadnt entered their BBEG era I might not have never opened #starfinder beginner box or looked at the #Theexpanse rpg i got as gifts. look at me now 13 books in with #paizo 6 with greenronin age system #ttrpg
#herosystem #cyberpunkred #dungeonsanddragons #wotc #starfinder #theexpanse #paizo #ttrpg
@GamesPeoplePlay Interestingly, for my Thursday night game, I billed it as literally a “fantasy superhero” game. It’s a fantasy setting, it’s run in #HeroSystem, but it’s not #FantasyHero. It is Fantasy #ChampionsRPG, and players had the ability to build their characters with those tropes in mind.
For instance, we have a ranger-type with a quiver of novelty powered arrows, including the “boxing glove” arrow. And a two+ thousand year old draconid who didn’t …die correctly. 1/2

@LurkerInDorkness @pteryx
Oh, there are so many fun plot seeds there in a fantasy superheroic game...
Also, I have successfully convinced friends to try #HeroSystem with the sales pitch "in this game, an actual goddamn dragon is a valid character concept." 😉
