#OTD Thomas #Herriot introduced #Colombian #Potatoes to #England.
Over 50 years earlier, the #Spanish had first discovered potatoes - but Herriot's were the first to reach England.
He spent time at Sir Walter #Raleigh's #English #Colony on #Roanoke #Island.
Herriot was also an #Astronomer. In #July of 1609, he drew the #Moon through a #Telescope over 4 mos. before #Galileo.
