Why did Jesus ask God: ‘Why have you forsaken me?’?

If you understand this, you begin to understand what was happening at the cross, what was the worst agony for Jesus on the cross. It was not the physical pain of the crucifixion, not the flogging, not the crown of thorns, not even the mockery. It was having the sin of the world placed upon Him ‘from eternity to eternity’.
