These swirling layers are fossilised stromatalites. Cynobacterial mats that made the earth's oxygen. Hard to find and easy to miss.
Only on foot.

Wet on this side of the world. Sunny pic to compensate. This shows the 800 million year old sedimentary layers which include the first animal fossils from the ediacran epoch. The Heysen trail marker points the way through some amazing country.
